Dennis Donohue is a thought-leader and catalyst in the movement to unite ag and tech in California’s Salinas Valley – the rich agricultural community immediately south of Silicon Valley dubbed the “Fresh Nerve Center” of the US. In agribusiness since 1988, Dennis worked for Fresh Western Marketing, Fresh Express and River Ranch before joining Royal Rose LLC (then European Vegetable Specialties) in 1996. He became president of the company three years later. Royal Rose is the largest producer of radicchio in the world, with growing operations and customers in the Americas, Europe and the Pacific Rim, and a fresh perspective on customer engagement.
Donohue served as mayor of Salinas, the Central Coast’s largest city and renowned “Salad Bowl Capital of the World,” from 2006 to 2012. He remains a passionate advocate for his community and local industry, serving in numerous volunteer and civic leadership positions including as former chair of the Central Coast Grower-Shipper Association (which recently named him their official lead in the movement to bring the Salinas and Silicon Valleys together), the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce, and as Chairman of the Board for the Steinbeck Innovation Foundation, of which he is also a founder.
