Lei E serves as an advisor to China for the California Institute of Food and Agricultural Research (CIFAR) at UC Davis, and facilitates projects between the US and China.

He was a founding partner of AGcelerator Ventures, based in Davis, California.

With a background in agronomy, plant breeding, and molecular biology, Lei worked with CHIC Agritech Company in China from 2013 to 2014 as its operation director.

Prior to that, Lei was a plant breeder and molecular geneticist at Cal/West Seeds. Before moving to California, Lei spent eight years working at New Mexico State University as a researcher on alfalfa drought tolerance, cotton breeding and molecular biology.

Lei received his a biophysics degree from Fudan University in Shanghai, China and a master’s in agronomy from New Mexico State University.

He’s lectured on crop research and production at UC Davis, CSU Fresno, and Merced College.
