Dan Legard is the vice president of Research and Education at the California Strawberry Commission where he’s focused on strawberry industry production research and the education needs of strawberry growers. He has worked at the commission for 12 years.

Before joining the California Strawberry Commission, Dan led the strawberry pathology research program at the University of Florida as associate professor of plant pathology. In that position, he gained expertise in epidemiology of strawberry diseases, biology and population genetics of fungal pathogens of strawberries. His research involved integrated management of strawberry diseases through the use of chemical, biological and cultural control methods.

Dan received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in plant pathology. He holds a PhD in Plant Pathology from Cornell University.
