Farmland LP

Stephen Hohenrieder is an entrepreneurial private equity investor who has combined his investment and operating experience, education and interest in agriculture to deploy capital along the value chain of our food system and build a profitable, more regenerative model for managing land, producing healthy food and connecting people to each.

Stephen is an advisor to Prather Ranch and Prather Ranch Meat Company, where he has been leading a reorganization and management buyout of this iconic, vertically-integrated beef company.  He also is an advisor to Food System 6, an accelerator focused on the food system value chain.  Stephen was previously a general partner at Farmland LP, where he played a lead role in building the firm and in the platform acquisition and portfolio management of Olsen Agricultural Enterprises.   The merger of Olsen and Vitality Farms assets created Green Spring Farms, a company that sustainably produces diverse crops and livestock on 13,500 acres in California and Oregon.

Prior to Farmland LP he was a partner and managing director at Bio-Logical Capital where he had broad responsibility for strategy, operations, and deal origination.  At Bio-Logical Capital he co-led the acquisition of Hana Ranch and built the foundation of a vertically integrated, diversified farming and ranching enterprise. Stephen co-founded and was a managing partner of Featherstone Holdings, a firm that advises family offices making direct investments in private equity and real assets. He also was a member of the Springcreek Advisors investment committee. Prior to Featherstone, he served as COO and interim CEO of Lustre-Cal Corporation and was a co-founder of Watermark Labels. Stephen founded the wealth and asset management businesses at ThinkEquity Partners, where he profitably built them from concept to more than a billion dollars of assets in two and a half years when ThinkEquity was sold to Panmure Gordon. He began his career with Montgomery Securities/Bank of America where he spent nine years investing on behalf of family offices, foundations and their related entities. He graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Agribusiness.
